It’s really beyond explanation, how much I love this show. The total dynamic of the love and the dysfuntional condition of this family is addictive. How Luscious and Cookie will do anything and everything for their family. I love how the brothers Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem ride for each other. The topics the writers address without fear, well not too much fear. It’s just “FIRE.” The music is Wow! I just freaking love Empire period. L.A. say something if you love the Lyons.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Back to Back is how it seemed to happen this time. July 5, 2016. In Baton Rouge, La. Alton Sterling was out on his grind, selling pirated DVDs, in front of a local store. When the police got this disturbance call, saying a homeless person had been threatened. The Store owner Abdulla Muflahi said and from the video captured, we can SEE the officer stick a gun to his chest and then we can HEAR if you move…I swear to God, and then lights out for Mr. Sterling. The store owner, Abdullah Muflahi, told the newspaper, he was not holding his gun or touching his pockets during the incident. The gun was later found in his pocket. Muflahi said he hurried up and put his phone in his pocket, because he didn’t want the police to take it from him. In the video you can see Mr. Sterling’s hands are pinned to his sides, after the killing, you see one of the officers in the video roll off of Mr. Sterling. They kept Mr. Muflahi in the back of police car for 2 hours, and they took his store video surveillance without his permission or a search warrant. Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II are on paid leave. L.A. (Los Angeles) did you see the way Sterling’s 15-year old son, he just sobbed and cried out for his Dad. It was soooo heartwrenching.
St. Paul, Minnesota (St. Anthony) – Philando Castile on July 6, 2016 was killed by police officer, Jeronimo Yanez. He panicked and shot into a car with a female passenger, and a little four-year old girl in the back seat. He says, I told him to put his hands up, and the female passenger, Diamond Reynolds who was able to record some of what occurred, says “no sir, you told him to get his license and registration.” And then she tells the officer you shot his arm off. L.A….I don’t understand what happened in the aftermath, the delay in getting the paramedics…After being removed from the car, Diamond Reynolds is crying out in to the live stream in the back of police car, but heartbreaking her little four-year old daughter says “its okay, I’m right here with you.” And Mr. Castile is pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m. Over a busted tail light, I can’t.
Dallas Texas – July 7, 2017 Micah X Johnson -During what started out as a peaceful Black Life Matters protest, took an action that would leave 9 wounded and 5 police officers murdered. Micah used tactics learned in the military to deal a death blow, leaving children without fathers, parents without their sons, and wives without their husbands. It was reported by David Brown a Black Police Chief from Dallas, that Micah wanted to kill white people, white police officers, and he had bombs planted. The Dallas Police Department tried to negotiate, but in the end used a robot to blow Micah up. This too is tragic. All of those lives lost including Micah’s it’s so sad.
But, here we are in 2016. I spoke to 10 of my African-American male relatives, and I ask them, have you ever been stop by the police? And, if so did you feel it was it justified. My relatives live in big cities, and some smaller cities, they live or lived in cities like Houston, Chicago, Ardmore, Los Angeles, Dallas, all over. But, they all had been stopped. Some of them had been stopped for speeding, and they were okay with that. However, what they weren’t okay with was getting pulled over in Delaware for no apparent reason, being questioned like a criminal and then the Officer when he finished harassing him, walking away like that was okay. They’re not okay with they fit the description of robbery suspects, or they look suspicious, or getting followed home and harassed in their own driveway, a “You fit the description.” These are professional guys, not bangers. Each time these Black Men know these traffic stops can go bad. This is not new, it just won’t stop. So, Black parents before they give their sons the keys, they are usually giving them the talk. These are the reasons for the other great divide. Something is very wrong when men of all walks of life are constantly being profiled, and stopped and checked, and slammed on top of hoods, suspected of this and that, and more and more MURDERED because, they were selling loosies, CDs, are they fit the description, or just walking, or just driving, because they are African-American. And I’m not going to put the N.Y. Overseers’ name in my post, but trust and believe we do address Black on Black crime.
However, we work and pay taxes, taxes that probably pay your salary for you to “Protect and to Serve,” so I don’t think it’s too much to ask that you don’t kill us! In school believe or not they told us that if we ever got in trouble to find a police officer, we learned about the constitution and our inalienable rights that don’t seem to apply to us.
Most Americans are tired of all the senseless killings. The Black Lives that you take without seemingly a second thought, hurt real people. Family, Commuity we cannot become that we profess to be against. Police officers to please take time to get to know the people in the community you serve. You’ll find great people live there!
Empire is the VERY BEST thing on T.V. hands down!!! This episode was popping. I love the whole concept, new artists, family. Lucious (Terrence Howard)! You saving artists off the street, while your own son begs to come back. Trai Byers is serving it on Empire. And Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) she cain’t get no better.
Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), Yazz and Timbaland that was FREAKING FIRE!!! Yes, Yes!
Long Live the Empire only to Taken over by Lyon Dynasty!
This is my show L.A.! Taraji and Terrence, it just doesn’t get any better! Cookie started it off with that concert scene. I must admit I was like what the $+@! with the gorilla suit, but, Taraji brought it with the monologue. And then the scene where (I wasn’t really feeling Chris Rock as a character who evoked fear)Cookie goes to Lucious about Frank (Chris’s character) bothering them… oh yeah, I loved that! Lucious/Terrance handled that perfectly. I can’t wait ’til next week. Empire is back L.A. and the Lyons’ are roaring!
Tom Brady’s back to playing football. He is talented, but L.A. do we think for one moment that this 4 x Super Bowl Champion, 3x Super Bowl MVP who throws the football to make a living didn’t know the football he was using was under-regulation standard. Tom says “he always plays within the rules.” As good as he is, he must have not been to sure of his abilities or the rules.
May 6, 2015, the NFL published a 243-page report basically saying “Terrific Tom” knew about the use of the deflated footballs in the AFC Championship game. Some ports analysts are saying, well he doesn’t have show his texts messages. It’s really sad that a quarterback of this caliber cannot just be stand-up, turn-over his phone records and be done with it, especially if you didn’t know anything.
On May 11, Brady was suspended for four games by the NFL for his involvement based on “substantial and credible evidence” that Brady knew Patriots employees were deflating footballs and that he failed to cooperate with investigators. The decision was overturned by Judge Richard Burman making Tom eligible to play week one. He got permission (from who) to appeal his case. Remember Spygate where the Patriots were caught taping other teams signals. The taping was reported to have gone on from 2000 – 2007. When did Brady start with the Pats! It just seems a little suspicious. I mean other athletes get in to a situation there suspended, jailed, etc. In other words there are repercussions. And, celebs from Boston, all over the TV saying their deflaters.
Tom this is your craft, respect is earned from mastering it, being the best in the game at the game. Quarterbacks have the most prestigious position on the field; I don’t know L.A. the legacy of the Patriots is a little deflated. So…L.A. let’s talk about this!
Tennis Star James Blake, once ranked number four in the world as a professional player, was attacked by some of NYPD’s finest. Officer James Frascatore “slammed” Blake to the ground and handcuffed him in a case of mistaken identity. They had a witness, so without questioning him or asking him if they could speak with him, the policeman tackled him to the ground, and his brothers in blue helped him cover up what he did. Police Commissioner Bill Bratton says it wasn’t racially motivated. He fit the description the suspect “looks like the twin brother of Mr. Blake.” Well…he wasn’t his twin. The crime that he was allegedly suspected of was credit card theft not murder. So what warranted this man being thrown to the ground, without a word to him.
The police officer could have asked him some questions, possibly allowing him to provide you with his I.D. show you the U.S. Open card he had in his pocket. But according to Bratton, race had nothing to do with it. Eric Garner got choked to death for pedaling cigarettes. I guess we should THANK GOD you weren’t murdered. Bratton, says it wasn’t race related, but James Blake thought it was and he kept talking about it, which is the only reason the situation was addressed. There are some good police out there…somewhere. Race related, we can’t always say that’s the case, but a lot of times in urban communities, it fits the description. What do you think, SaySomethingLA.
So, I’m just catching bits and pieces of this conversation. Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner was on the Ellen Show. I’m not sure if aired today or yesterday. Somehow marriage came up, and basically Caitlyn said as a traditionalist, marriage is between a man and a woman; however, she would never stand in the way of any ones happiness. Ellen said it was confusing but she looked kind of pissed, and went on the Howard Stern show and stated that she was taken aback. Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner said, “If that word ‘marriage’ is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.” Ellen response and I’m just giving my take were you wanting people to accept you, and yet you stand in judgment of me. I like Matthew 7, on a lot of the policies of today. Was there some hypocrisy going on, or does a man who now wants to be a woman get to be against same sex marriage. It was confusing or was it just me…Say Something L.A.
