My Country tis of thee
Almost every single time it happens, I think somehow the good people of the United States are going to wake up and say, we are not going to tolerate it. Given the history we have with the “Negroes, Blacks, African-Americans” of this country. We are going to be better, we are going to do better. This beloved country has evolved, we voted in a Black President and the world rejoiced with us! And yet… it continues, the rapes of children, the bombings of the churches, the beatings and the blatant contempt for these people, my people is never ending. It continues…from Emmett to Trayvon, from Megar to Garner this ish continues. And now it’s dressed up in “probable cause.”
It’s really beyond explanation, how much I love this show. The total dynamic of the love and the dysfuntional condition of this family is addictive. How Luscious and Cookie will do anything and everything for their family. I love how the brothers Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem ride for each other. The topics the writers address without fear, well not too much fear. It’s just “FIRE.” The music is Wow! I just freaking love Empire period. L.A. say something if you love the Lyons.
Chris Rock is scheduled to host the Oscars and many are calling for him to step down. He is probably under contract, so I really don’t see him doing that. The question was posed to Super Star Tyrese Gibson, and I have to say I was very impressed with his very passionate response regarding the issue. So now a co-worker ask me what I thought: she said “do you think Black people should get an award “just because their Black?” (I really thought how ignorant is that) Of course, I don’t think that just because, but I most certainly think that as minorities we should have the opportunity to win. Now, see I thought and told her, she should also be a little affronted because their aren’t any Asians, Latinos, Native Americans or anyone other than one race of people represented at the Oscars. Honestly, I am really not that impressed with what the great White people of the Academy think. And Black people hold your dollars that is what makes us count. I decide what I like and support what I want. So, what do you think L.A. Should we be concerned, Say something at SaySomethingLA.com
I watched this story a few times to try to figure out whatdaf$@! happened. So, I read that an African-American female student from Spring Valley high school refused to surrender her cell phone, refused to leave class, and refused to go with the Administrator. A classmate said the administrator pleaded with her to go, she also said the student was pleading to stay, saying she only looked at her cell phone quickly. The student refused to leave with the administrator so he/she called in Deputy Ben Fields. And that’s when stuff went South. So according to this student, Deputy Fields ask her if she was going to move and when she said “No, I haven’t done anything wrong” that’s when the deputy went ballistic.
Now on tape we see Deputy Fields of the Richland County sheriff Department, pull her arm, she does pull back, he then grabs some where around her neck area, she does swing at him twice (missing). He flips the whole desk over with her in it, drags her across the floor by her arms, and arrests her. The other students (children) in the class sat with stunned looks on their faces. One young girl did speak up and was arrested for her actions. I’ve watched, watched and re-watched this video. She was wrong she should have given her phone over or went to the office, here’s the but you are a man, trained-professional, flipping the desk over with the student in it. Way too much! I really don’t know if the dude is racist or just shouldn’t be around young people, people at ALL! Did you see it L.A…Say Something, what you think.
The Taste was Awesome this year. If you never been, this is the year you should have gone. First KJLH DJ MarSki is a fool, so much fun! He keeps the party going! MON-I-CA was off the chain. She was giving it to the people. Angie Stone was great, and everybody loves them some Joe. Joe can sing anything and we’re going to love it. Mint Condition is the most awesome band ever to be a band. There were multiple stages 94.7 the Wave represented. Gospel singers and choirs “SANG.” The Police were out supporting the community…that’s a change, if you have an interest in Law Enforcement and a clean record, L.A.P.D is hiring. The Fire Department, Los Angeles County, So Cal Gas were all on hand for the Festival. Wells Fargo and Bank of America supported. Harold and Belle’s was there, umm good food all over the place. It was hot but the Snow Balls helped. There were so many artists and vendors…Wooh-Good Times. A good friend of mine said she just enjoyed being amongst our people and new vendors, her dentist even had a booth. What was your favorite event L.A. Talk to me at SaySomethingLA.com
Pope Francis of Rome, leader of 1.2 billion Catholics addressed the United States Congress in a joint session. His message was simple in that he feels the actions of the lawmakers of this country should restore and right wrongs, embrace immigrants, and promote the well being of peoples. Vice President Biden and Speaker of the House Boehner set behind him.
The pope used American Icons President Lincoln, Dr. Martin Luther King jr, Dorothy Day, and Thomas Merton who were leaders through action to emphasize his statement. He said “the yardstick we use for others will be the yardstick which time will use for us.” He stated his position on traditional marriage and protecting life.
Honestly most of his speech was inspiring,…but Church and State are supposed to be separate, not that you can separate me from my lord and savior. But here’s the thing Pope Francis canonized Junipero Serra. That is to say he made him a Saint, this person who is responsible for the kidnapping and deaths of 62,000 Native people.
And, the little girl Sofia Cruz, maybe I’m mistaken, but I could have sworn she handed President Obama a letter regarding her dad before, not that it wasn’t touching her being blessed by the pope.
I’m a little conflicted by the pope and all he should stand for…But your thoughts L.A?
This is my show L.A.! Taraji and Terrence, it just doesn’t get any better! Cookie started it off with that concert scene. I must admit I was like what the $+@! with the gorilla suit, but, Taraji brought it with the monologue. And then the scene where (I wasn’t really feeling Chris Rock as a character who evoked fear)Cookie goes to Lucious about Frank (Chris’s character) bothering them… oh yeah, I loved that! Lucious/Terrance handled that perfectly. I can’t wait ’til next week. Empire is back L.A. and the Lyons’ are roaring!
