I was just thinking about Maya Angelou and Ruby Dee. Two very phenomenal women, and then Bobby Womack, they have gone on to their next journey. I loved me some “phenomenal woman” and “Still I Rise.” And Mr. Womack as I’ve gotten a little older, I appreciate your music more and more. This is my homage for the gifts you all shared with the world. I’ll treasure the gifts. Say Somethin’ L.A.

Phenomenal people
I grew up primarily in the 90’s, but I’ll admit that my strongest association with Ms. Angelou is through the movie “Poetic Justice” starring Janet Jackson and Tupac. Janet’s poetry in the film is some of Ms. Angelou’s greatest and most renowned pieces. I may not have learned the poems in the most conventional way, but I’m glad I was given the introduction.
